Estate Planning and Probate

Our estate planning department provides personal, one-on-one counseling to individuals and families. We encourage early planning and recommend that a person's estate plan be reviewed and updated on a periodic basis. We provide services from basic wills and simple trusts to more complicated estate plans, including irrevocable life insurance trusts, charitable trusts and other sophisticated estate planning techniques. When the client's intentions dictate, we strive to minimize death taxes and estate settlement costs and maximize the amount of wealth passing to future generations and charitable organizations. We have an excellent working relationship with a number of corporate trust companies in the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo area.

Estate planning also includes personal planning in areas such as powers of attorney, living wills and health care powers of attorney.

Our probate department is able to assist in the administration of estates in both North Dakota and Minnesota and is able to handle or coordinate the handling of estates in other states in which our clients own property and do business. Our philosophy is to assist in the administration of the estate in the most prompt and efficient manner possible so as to reduce the time and costs of administration to the survivors.
